Brits Love a Holiday!
British people are passionate about holidays — they travel more per person than almost any other nationality. Popular sunny destinations include Spain, Greece, Turkey, and Florida, but many Brits also love staycations. Glastonbury festival, the Scottish Highlands, Cornwall beaches, and the Lake District are all beloved British holiday spots. Talking about past and future trips is one of the most common conversations among British teenagers, especially when counting down the days to the summer holidays!

Future Plans — Going to vs Will
When talking about future travel plans, we use different forms depending on whether we have already decided, or if we are deciding right now.
Key Difference
✓ Use 'going to' when the plan is already made.
✗ Don't use 'will' for holidays you have already booked!

Planning a Trip
Jake: Have you got any holidays planned for the summer?
Elif: Yes! We're going back to Turkey to visit family. What about you?
Jake: I'm going to Scotland with my dad — we're doing a road trip through the Highlands.
Elif: That sounds absolutely stunning. I've always wanted to go.
Jake: You should come sometime! It's completely off the beaten track in places.
Elif: I will one day, definitely. Is Scotland very different from England?
Jake: Totally different vibe — much wilder, more dramatic landscapes.
Elif: I think I'll plan a UK road trip before I go home. Any must-sees?
Jake: Edinburgh Castle, Loch Ness, and the Isle of Skye — non-negotiable.
Elif: Perfect. I'll add them to my list. Are you going to camp?
The Great British Seaside Holiday
If you stay in the UK for the summer, you have to experience a classic British seaside holiday. Towns like Brighton or Blackpool are famous for their piers, arcades, and pebble beaches. A proper seaside trip includes eating fish and chips out of paper on the beach, but you have to watch out for the massive seagulls — they will literally steal the chips right out of your hand! Even if it rains, Brits will stubbornly sit on the beach in their raincoats eating ice cream.
