Texting and 'Wyd?'
In the UK, teenagers are constantly texting each other to ask 'Wyd?' (What are you doing?). When you reply, you almost always use the present continuous. You might text back 'Chilling at home', 'Waiting for the bus', or 'Walking the dog'. Notice how we often drop the 'I am' in quick text messages! It's a super casual way to stay connected with your mates throughout the day.
