The Tiny Words That Matter
In English, three tiny words — 'a', 'an' and 'the' — appear before nouns all the time. Turkish doesn't use them, so they're very easy to forget when you're chatting with your mates. But to a British ear, there's a massive difference between saying 'I have a dog' and 'I have dog'! The good news is that once you learn three simple rules, these little words become completely automatic. Let's get them sorted so you can sound like a local.

A New Student's First Day

The Tube vs A Train
Did you know that some famous places in the UK always use 'the'? For example, Londoners don't catch 'trains' underground; they take 'the Tube'. And if you love football, you watch 'the Premier League'. But we never use 'the' for cities or countries (except for places like 'the UK' or 'the US'!). So, it's just 'London', not 'the London'. Getting this right makes you sound like a true Brit!
