Listen to British people for a day and you'll hear 'have got' everywhere: 'I've got two kids', 'We've got a small garden', 'Sorry, I've got a meeting at three.' Americans usually say 'I have', but in everyday British speech, 'have got' is the natural choice for possession, relationships, and schedules. Turkish has no verb like this at all — possession works completely differently with 'var' and 'yok' — so this lesson gives you the patterns ready-made. Master this, and you will instantly sound more natural in the UK.

"Have you got the time?" vs "Have you got time?"
A tiny word makes a big difference in the UK! If someone asks "Have you got the time?", they are asking what time it is right now (like looking at a watch). But if they ask "Have you got time?", they are asking if you are free to help them or chat. So if a colleague says "Have you got time for a quick chat?", they want a few minutes of your day, not the current hour!
